Lettre à Moïse

After a childhood in Hungary, a young adult life in New York, then arriving in Paris on the eve of the First World War, my grandfather Louis Charles Huppert, the protagonist of the story, movingly embodies
the changes and mistakes at the end of the 19th century and the first part of the 20th century, migrations, episodes of integration and social advancement, peppered with xenophobic rejections.
I tried to revive the quest for my origins, drawing on careful research.
Letter to Moïse traces the ancestry and journey of my grandfather, marked by enthusiasm, spirit of adventure and attachment to France.
The epilogue concludes in a peaceful manner the account of my rediscovered origins.
