What is the purpose of musical intelligence?

  
 

Music plays a central role in the lives of human beings. It is in turn a source of emotion, vitality, and meditation. Music enchants, its powers fascinate. It offers to everyone imagination and a magical emotion. But, beyond the charm, what is musical intelligence? Musical Intelligence focuses upon the time and emotion. It tends towards harmonizing and balancing opposing forces: the soft and the hard, the bass and treble, the consonant and the dissonant, slow and fast, silent and sound are scales to translate feelings, to stratify consciousness from the unorganized to the organized ... It restores the harmony of sounds and rhythms altered by the passions and excesses of modern life. It calls for moderation and produces a beneficial effect. It provides a general way to communicate through a rich medium, though ineffable, to connect with "softening manners." Finally, it reflects the traditions, tastes, style of a civilization or a time.

However, unlike conceptual, imposing constructions built by strategists and financiers, musical intelligence is only a “little thought”, still nascent, groping, and even approximate and fugitive. It does not dot the "i" explicitly. Although it uses a syntax, it is not a language in the usual sense, nor a means of communicating concepts. The musical intelligence is not defined as a rational system, as can be, for example, managerial thinking, structured speech likely to reflect diversity and plurality.

But music is inviting us to cross many more tracks equally valuable, such as shade, duration, agreement, harmony, cycle, rhythm or ... silence. It acts differently from the world of action. Music is playing and movement, i.e. instant action, in which instant is more important than “before” and “after”, reflecting the composer's intention and the feeling that removes the listener. A kind of " one plays by playing" meaning a precious moment where everything is translated, expressed.

After all, the manager must also give meaning to every moment. Management is a direct perpetual motion, an art to be on time. With this kind of musical intelligence, a vast field is therefore opened: learning complexity, mastering leadership and recognition of diversity. Musical intelligence helps to understand that nothing happens without learning. Mastery of complexity requires discipline, perseverance and love. Under the influence of music, we come to understand the reality, but also what lies behind reality. Leadership is mastered through self-control, a source of strength, which allows to gain momentum and maintain the pace. Through music, one can learn to identify and manage emotions, improvise in the discipline, ensure better place in time and space, combine rigor and attractiveness, efficiency and thanks, pause and movement.

Taking into account diversity includes consideration given to each: all desks of the orchestra from the lowest performer, all services of the company, all citizens the City. In this way, music can contribute to help each member of our society to think and act, without ever renouncing his emotions, but controlling them, without sacrificing the reflection but summarizing it and giving it more charm. Still, one should not act hastily.

In other words: let us not go faster than music itself!
